SAMSA DESIGN FOR BOAT SHOW

We were briefed to design an exhibition stand for SAMSA (South African Maritime Safety Authority) for the National Boat Show at the CTICC.  The stand was to be modular, adapting a 9m x 6m space to 6m x 6m later on.  The organization's objectives is to promote South Africa's maritime interests and development and position the country as an international Maritime Centre while ensuring maritime safety, health and environmental protection.

The design provided a contemporary nautical theme with an upper and lower level.  The floor treatment included laminate wood which served as a warm base to the crisp white structure.  A welcome desk, lounge area and coffee bar could be found on the lower level.  A real propellar was to be mounted to the back wall of the coffee bar serving as a talking point in competition with the recessed fish tank located on the opposite wall.

Guests could enter the upper VIP level via a U-shape stairwell, finished with frosted glass vanity panels and wooden balustrades.  Haldane Martin's ever popular weightless furniture range was a perfect solution for the meeting area upstairs.  The famous Moullie Point lighthouse and Cape Town Harbour served as scenic graphic backdrops to the hospitable environment where form meets function.
